The 2021 Californian vintage was one of the finest in years. The growing season began with a relatively dry, cold winter. Spring was warm, encouraging vine vigour and a successful budburst and flowering. Summer temperatures were moderate, ideal for slow ripening. Rainfall was low, which had an impact on yields. Although quantities were smaller than usual, the quality of the fruit was excellent. The long growing season had concentrated flavour, retaining crucial aromatics and fine acidity.
